Leaving On A Jet Plane

The weeks had gone by quickly and the tour had finished up. The guys were tired and ecstatic at the same time that they were going home. As they were finishing packing up there was a knock on Jon’s door. “Come on in it’s open!” Jon yelled from the bedroom.

Richie walked in and walked into the bedroom. “Hey Kidd you almost done?”

“Yeah just finishing up. Just ran my second check. So what’s up?” he asked Richie.

“Ah I was wondering, so where are you going? New Jersey or Massachusetts?” Richie wondered.

“Yeah um I’m heading off to get Ellie and Jimmy. I think it’s time that we’re a family don’t you?” Jon told his best friend.

Smiling, “Yeah I do.” Richie told him.

  Sean was playing ball with Jimmy out front when this car pulled into the driveway. As soon as the occupant got out Jimmy’s eyes went wide and ran to the person as he yelled “Daddy!”

Sean turned around as Jimmy jumped into Jon’s arms. “Hey little man how are you? You playing with Uncle Sean huh?” Jimmy told him yes as Sean walked over to them. “Hey Sean how are you?”

“Um I’m doing ok but um I need to tell you something.” He told Jon.

Jon looked at him and saw that Sean wasn’t smiling back at him. “What’s the matter Sean? Is everything ok?”

“Not really. It’s Ellie she’s in the hospital.” Well that was all Sean was able to get out when Jon jumped in.

“What do you mean she’s in the hospital? What the hell happened? Why wasn’t I notified!” he rambled.

“Well we couldn’t reach you Mom said that you had already left the hotel.” He told him.

“Sean why is she in the hospital?” Jon asked scared.

“Oh because it’s her appendix. She thought it was you know something else so she said she was ignoring the pain but then it got too much and she collapsed. It happened last night and Mom tried calling but they said you had left.” Sean explained.

“Yean I just landed about an hour ago. I wanted to surprise her but it looks like I’m the one surprised. What hospital is she at Sean?” he asked him antsy.

“She’s at Memorial but if you wait Mom and Dad can tell you where she is.” Sean told him.

“No that’s all right I’ll find her. Hey I’m going to go see Mommy ok? You stay here with Uncle Sean and I’ll see you later ok? Love you.” He told Jimmy and put him down. Getting back in his car he took the info down from Sean and took off.

At Memorial Ellie was coming in and out of it seeing that last night they had rushed her into surgery to operate on her. Paul and Cecelia were sitting with her waiting for the Doctor to come in. Finally Dr. Hunter made his way into the room to check up on her and tell them that everything went as planned. If she keeps her meals down and is able to walk without being dizzy and her bathroom regime is fine and etc. she can go home in a few days. We just want to be able to check on everything. They thanked him and just as he left Jon walked in.

“Mr. and Mrs. A. how is she?” Jon asked as he walked up to them.

Turning to face him they both smiled at him. “Jon? Oh Honey we didn’t know where you were.” Cecelia told him.

“Yeah Sean told me.” He told them.

“So you were at the house?” she asked him.

“Yeah Jimmy is getting so big isn’t he?” Jon said with pride.

“Yes he is and looking more like you.” She told him smiling.

“Well thank you. How is she?” he asked changing his tone.

“She’ll be fine the doctor said but she’ll be here the next few days he wants to keep her for observation. It’s ok you can go over to her and touch her she won’t break.” She told him smiling.

Looking at them he walked over to her and held her hand. Paul pulled his wife aside and said something to her then went to Jon and asked him. “Why don’t you stay for a while so we can go home and take care of things their Son. She comes out of it every now and then so when she does you’ll be a nice surprise for her. I’m sure Sean needs a break right about now.” Paul said chuckling.

“Yeah he probably does. Thanks.” Jon said quietly.

“Oh and Jon if you’d like you can call us by our first names or by Mom and Dad if you’d like.” Paul told him as he wink at him as they left and Cecelia gave him a kiss on the cheek.

Jon sat down and didn’t know what to think about that. Here her parents just said to him what well what his mother would never let Ellie call her. His Dad well he would. And her dad called him son. He looked at her lying there so helpless and he thought to himself ‘What if she was alone with Jimmy either in the apartment or in their own house. What would have happened?’ that scared the hell out of him. He wanted to take her and his son back to Jersey to be a family but then this happened. Now he had to think about it. Now he wasn’t sure of anything.

Jon had fallen asleep in the chair when Ellie had woken up. She was expecting to find her parents or an empty room but when she looked over to her right instead she saw this very handsome site asleep in a chair. Well she thought maybe she was still sleeping herself. Blinking a couple of times to make sure she was satisfied that she was awake she tried to reach over to touch him but only could touch his knee. Well that was going to have to do so she started to poke at it but nothing. He was out like a light. She smiled at him as he sat there and she knew he was going to be hurting when he woke up.

 A few minutes went by and she started to drift off when a nurse came in to take her vitals. She was on when Ellie’s parents were there earlier so she thought that she would see them again but instead see saw someone sleeping in a chair next to her bed. She thought that was odd because it was four in the afternoon. She hated to do this but she needed to do her job and needed to tell well who? By the back she couldn’t see if it was a guy or a girl only that the hair was hanging over the chair. So she went around to wake the person up to tell them that they would have to leave for a little bit when she stopped dead in her tracks. She was a fairly young woman in her mid-twenties and fairly attractive with black short hair. With her mouth slightly ajar and her breathing getting rapid now she started to shake and noises were coming out of her mouth. Apparently she was a fan of hard/metal rock and one of her favorite bands was Bon Jovi.

“OH MY GOD! YOU’RE JON BON JOVI! YOU’RE JON BON JOVI!” she just kept saying very loudly over and over again until Jon opened his eyes staring at her and not knowing if he should be scared or not. While in the meantime nobody noticed that Ellie was watching this whole thing go down and trying to find her call button. “I Can’t Believe It’s You!” she was still squealing.

“Hey.” Was all Jon could seem to get out as he was trying to get his bearings.

“Oh my God what are you doing here?” the nurse asked him as she was ignoring her job.

“Ahhh I’m here to see my fiance aren’t you supposed to being doing something?” he asked a little leary of her.

“Who me? Oh yeah I need to take her vitals and give her her meds.” She told him as she reached in and pulled put a syringe.

Right then Ellie spoke up, “Like hell you are! Jon get her out of here now! I want a new nurse now and one that’s over forty!”

“What’s your problem I’ve been tending to you for the last four hours.” She told Ellie.

“Well that was before you knew my boyfriend was a rockstar Sweetie now get her the hell out of here!” Ellie demanded.

Looking at her as he shrugged his shoulders, “Sorry but you heard what she said OUT!” Jon told her as he gently guided her towards the door.

“Well fine I’ll let the head nurse know. But if you ever want to dump her here’s my card.” And gave it to him as she winked and walked down the hall.

Jon just stood there looking at it and then ripped it up and walked back in and threw it in the trash. “What’s that?” Ellie asked him.

“Nothing Baby now what the hell is this with you here?” he asked her leaning down and kissing her hard.

Parting, “I’m sorry Honey I didn’t know you were coming if I did I would have put this off.” She told him smiling.

“You’re funny you still on pain killers?” he asked.

“Little bit.” She giggled. “Oh were you able to see Mommy and Daddy?” she asked him groggily.

Smiling widely at her, “Yes I did. I saw them when I got here in the room. They told me to stay so they could go home. I did see Jimmy thou. Boy he’s getting really big what are you feeding him?” he asked her as he scooted up the chair to the bed so he could get closer to her.

Looking over at him, “I don’t know Mommy feeds him. God you’re good looking you know that? You’ve always been good looking even when I first met you. You standing there you know you were staring at me like you owned whatever you were doing. You looked your nose down at me.” She told him as her eyes were fluttering and she was fighting to stay awake.

“I was really no I didn’t know that.” He was chuckling now. “Why don’t you try and get some sleep Baby ok? You had a long night last night so just close your eyes ok?” he told her as he starting humming to her so she would fall asleep.

About another hour had past and this time they sent a nurse who was over forty into the room and had no desire on Jon. She asked him to leave but he told her that she was his fiance and that he wasn’t going anywhere.  She tried to tell him that she had to change her bandage but he didn’t care he would stand over by the door but he was not leaving the room. She smiled and told him fine as long as he didn’t get in her way. It didn’t take long for her to do what she had to and she told Jon everything looked good and that she was a wake.

Walking back to her bed she was now sitting up and had her table up to her with her dinner in front of her. “So are you going to try and eat that?” He asked her.

“Why do you want it?” she asked him hoping. “Wait a minute have you even eaten today?” she asked him knowing damn well he probably hasn’t.

“We’re not talking about me.” He told her as he took her spoon and tried to get her to eat her soup.

“Thanks but you know I not a fan of soup and this isn’t soup it’s broth which is more yucky.” she told him as she put her lips together really tight.

“Elinore you open your mouth right now. You need to get this in you so you can go home. I can’t take you and Jimmy back to Jersey with me if you’re sick now open your freaking mouth.” He said thru gritted teeth. Still she would and kept shaking her head no.

“I don’t believe this you’re acting like a child.” Jon told her when they heard.

“Who’s acting like a child?” Paul asked.

Turning around Jon saw Ellie’s parents and Beth, Sean and Chick. “Your daughter she won’t eat her dinner.” He told them when Ellie went to say something that gave Jon a chance to shove the spoon in her mouth. “Ha gotcha!” he told her proudly. Now she gave him the stink eye.

“Sweetheart you have to get this in your system or they won’t let you leave here now eat.” Cecelia told her daughter.

“But I don’t like it.” Ellie said feeling miserable.

“Tough, I’m sorry Baby but you have to. (whispering) I have plans for us.” And kissed her on the cheek.

 Just then Ellie realized something. “Oh My God! Who’s taking care of Jimmy!”  Jon just turned around and counted off who was in the room.

“Oh Honey don’t worry Joey stopped by and said that he’d watch him so we all could come up.” Cecelia told her.

“Oh well that’s good now maybe you can do me a favor. You guys take Jon down to the cafeteria and get him something to eat ok oh and Chick you and Jon are about the same build could you give him your baseball hat and your coat.” she told him.

“Baby that’s ok she’s probably gone or she won’t be there.” Jon told Ellie to try and calm her.

“No we’re not going to take that chance it’s bad enough she knows you’re going to be here because of me.” As they were chatting back and forth her parents wanted to know what was going on so Jon explained to them what had happen earlier with the younger nurse. They both agreed that Jon should wear the hat and coat just in case so nothing happens and to keep Ellie calm while they were gone. Jon reluctantly agreed and they all went down stairs to grab something to eat.

Looking at her daughter, “Well wasn’t that a nice surprise that Jon is here?” her Mom asked her.

“Yeah but I’m stuck here. Mom he brought up going to Jersey again. You know the thing is he’s supposed to be leaving for Vancouver in a month for God only knows how long and what? We’re supposed to be stuck in Jersey for all that time by ourselves? With no family? Because I don’t think he plans on taking us with him.” She told her parents.

 Looking at her and feeling for her she asked Ellie, “Well have you discussed this with him?”

“Well no I haven’t we haven’t had time really always something comes up.” she told them.

“Well Honey he’s not going to know if you don’t tell him now will he. Your Mother and I have always talked the big things over unless I just say let’s go you know that.” Paul told his daughter smiling.

“Yeah right. You two are too much alike. I think that’s why I can handle him.” She said smiling back.

“You handle him? Your Mother does not handle me!” he glared at her with a grin.

“Oh no Mom doesn’t handle you at all do you Mom?” she said trying not to giggle.

Cecelia just held her hands up and smile and shooked her head. And then they all laughed.

“Ok I know when I’m out of my league.” He told them.

In the cafeteria they had gotten their food and found a table. It was mainly cold food right now seeing that it was closed for the restaurant staff but the deli sandwiches were open so they got that and chips and soda. They found a table and once settled in they started to eat and talk when Chick noticed that a few nurses were staring at them.

“Jon I don’t think that you’re fooling anyone with your disguise.” Chick told him while glancing over Jon’s shoulder.

Looking at Chick while eating his sandwich and trying to get some info on how Jimmy was doing he asked him, “Why do you say that?” he asked him concerned.

“Because there are a few nurses behind us that keep looking and pointing at us and giggling. I think they spotted you.” He told him.

“Oh great your sister just about flipped when that nurse had a hissy fit in the room. She woke us up by having one right there and then.” He told them annoyed.

“Do you get that a lot?” Beth asked him.

“Well overseas yes and in New Jersey. But since MTV has been playing our videos more now yeah and that they’re been saying we’re going to put out the third one shortly probably sometime next year they have been really pushing the first two albums. Chick she’s not acting like they’re coming over here are they?” he asked him worried.

“No not yet.” He told him.

“Ok well let me know and I’ll put a stop to it.” He told them.

They continued telling Jon stories of Jimmy and told him that there were plenty of pictures of him at home for him to see. Ellie was getting a book together for him so he’d have something to take with him when he goes on his recording session they told him but Beth yelped out saying that she thought that was supposed to be a surprise for Jon. Jon laughed and told her not to worry that he won’t say anything if they didn’t and it would be their secret. But right about now the table behind them were getting a little louder because a few more nurse showed up and now they were all facing their table.

“Jon they’re more of them now and facing us now. What should we do?” Chick asked.
