Do Not Distrub

The next morning Karen met the guys in the restaurant as they were eating breakfast but they were missing one. They all said Hi to her and she took a seat and put her order in.

“So did everyone sleep well last night?” she asked them. They all chimed in yes a couple agreed a little too much.

“Did you Darling?” Richie asked her smiling.

“Oh yes I did thank you. So where is your fearless leader? Does he always sleep this late?” she asked them with a curious look.

“No actually he’s usually up with the birds. Richie is our noon time sleeper.” Tico told her chuckling.

“Really Richie so what’s got you up so early then?” she wanted to know.

“We’re going site seeing today you know hit all the hot spots we can in one day.” Richie said with a wink to the guys.

“And what you’re just waiting on Jon to join you guys?” she asked curiously.

They all looked at each other and smiled. “Jon’s not coming today. He’s hum busy you can say.” Dave said trying not to laugh.

She looked at them and couldn’t understand what was so funny. “Well would you mind if I tagged along you know to get what you guys do on your day off.” She asked them as Alec spit out his coffee and nearly had a heart attack. “Oh my God is he alright?” she wanted to know.

“Yeah he’ll be fine Karen. Look we’re going to be going to a lot of places today and we don’t stay for long it’s like speed reading we’re in and out real fast. So if you wanted to read a little tid bit about a statue or a painting you couldn’t. And then if we get mobbed we won’t have to worry about you. So why don’t you just take the day for yourself and enjoy it.” Richie told her.

“Well I guess I can ask Jon what he’s doing and see if he wants to do something.” She said but Richie jumped in again.

“Karen what didn’t you get from last night?” he asked her a little peeved now as the guys could see it.

“What do you mean?” she said as innocent as possible.

“What I told you last night Karen. He’s with his fiancé Ellie Anderson. So don’t expect to see either of them today and don’t bother them either or you’re going to see a side of Jon that you really don’t want to. Just warning you now it’s up to you to listen.” Richie told her sternly.

The guys got up from the table and left her sitting there all alone as she thought about Jon. How the hell was she supposed to break him up with his fiancé. Doc never told her that he was engaged. Oh this is so going to cost him double.

 Ellie woke up to find these arms wrapped around her and she could get use to this every morning. She was tired of wrapping a pillow up in her arms and pretending that it was Jon every night. It was getting to be the only way she could fall asleep. She moved her hands up so she could hold his arms in her hands and just feel him. The hair in her palms and how his muscles were in her hands. His breathing hit the back of her neck and it tickled. She was going to lie there for as long as she could and just soak up every bit that she could so when they had to part again this memory would hopefully be with her for a very long time. After a while she turned in his arms so they were face to face. She snuggled up into his neck and just as she got comfortable she heard, “Morning Beautiful.” She always got a kick out of him calling her that.

“Hey there I thought you were asleep?” she asked him while stroking his torso.

“No I was awake I just wanted to hold you for a while you were so nice and warm in my arms.” He told her as he kissed her forehead.

“Funny I thought the same thing with you. I didn’t want to move because I wanted a mental resemblance of this for when I had to return home.” She told him with a little hitch in her voice.

“Hey it’s practically over for a while then I’m all yours for a month. Then you’ll be begging to get rid of me.” He chuckled.

“I sincerely doubt that. Maybe after thirty, forty or fifty years from now ask me that question and I might have different answers for you but right now no. We waited too long to get here or is it that you’ll be sick of me?” she asked him as she tried to get up but he wouldn’t let her.

“Don't try and put this back on me little girl. I don’t let girls stay the night and I let you so there.” He said laughing. She shot up this time and looked him directly in the eye with a ‘What The Fuck look’ as he was still laughing. So she punched him in the arm as she smirked at him. “Owe! That hurt!” he yelped out as he grabbed her and threw her on her back. “So you want to play do you?” he smiled down at her.

“Hey you started this buster. What’s this crap that you don’t let women stay the night? Really?” she wanted to know.

“Oh crap. Ok before we got back together I never let the women I slept with stay the night after our arrangements that’s all. I liked to wake up by myself ok?” he told her getting off of her.

“You mean the groupies right?” she asked making a face.

“Yeah are you ok with that I mean Babe I’m sorry but I did do the whole Rock and Roll thing before I met you again.” He told her hoping that she understood that.

“Oh yeah right I get it. (pausing) I mean Elvis did it which I put out of my head. But you don’t do it now right?” she asked him looking around the room and trying to look as innocent as possible.

“Babe you’re really asking me that?” he asked her a little surprised.

“Asking you what Hon? Oh well I was just you know curious that’s all.” She told him now looking down at the blankets.

“No Baby I’m not I’m just with you why do you think I attacked you like I did? I’m horny as hell. El look I just want you and I’m trying to be so good and be faithful that’s all. I’ve never loved any other woman like I do you. So this is new to me. I may screw up at times and I need you to understand that but there’s one thing that will always, always be true and that is I will always Love You. You’re my one and only and no matter what happens you have to believe that ok? Because I’ve never forgotten you even when I was with those other girls and with Dotty I always compared them to you why do you think things never lasted with any of them.  And to answer your question I hated waking up with them in my bed ok? They just wanted to fuck a rock star they never cared about the person they were with so yeah I asked them to leave after the act. Now are you ok?” he asked her so they could get back to business.

Looking at him she was bound and determined not to cry but she did have tears in her eyes. “Yeah I’m fine I’m sorry I didn’t mean anything by it I was just playing really.” She told him trying to make him think that what she said was just a off the cuff comment.

Taking her chin in his hand and making her look at him, “Really? Ok then why do you have tears in your eyes? Baby look it’s ok no one is going to come between us but I do have to tell you what’s going on right now but I want to finish what we’re doing first and that is I want to show you just how much I love you and show you that you have nothing to worry about.” As he bent down and started to kiss her passionately. She melted into him as he rolled on top of her caressing her when they heard knocking on the door. He ignored it at first because he thought maybe some idiot couldn’t read. But then again the knocking started again and by the third time it was banging. “Jesus Christ! Whoever that is better have a good excuse as to why they can’t fucking read a Do Not Disturb sign!” he complained to Ellie as he jumped up and put on his sweats.

“Jon now don’t go all ballistic it could be management maybe something is wrong and they need your help in something. So before you go jumping down their throats find out what it is ok?” Ellie told him before he went to answer the door.

He looked back and smiled that gorgeous smile of his. “Now whatever did I do before you came along Babe? He asked her.

“I have no idea but from what the guys tell me you were such a pain in the ass.” She told him as she sat there smiling back at him. He shooked his head and went to see who the idiot was.

Getting to the door he pushed down the front of his sweat pants as best as he could before he opened the door. He took a deep breath then opened it. There before him he couldn’t believe who was standing in front of him.

“Jon Hi the guys told me you weren’t going with them today so I thought you and I could get some work done how about it?” she asked him as she pushed her way in as he tried to stop her but was able to as she flashed her camera in his face.

“What The Fuck Karen!” he yelled as he couldn’t see anything but blue spots and he was a little blurry for a few seconds. “Karen what the hell are you doing here? Can’t you fucking read?” he asked her.

“What? Read what? The door hanger out there? Oh what you got one of your little groupies in there? Sorry but I do need you to sit down with me and talk to me and also get some pics so if you could get rid of the little what do you call them now?” she said to him as he laid into her.

“Look Karen you don’t come into my hotel room without calling first you got that! Second if you think that you’re cute you’re not. This whole act of yours is a total turn off” he told her disgustedly.

“Really well your boys don’t think so.” She told him smiling.

“Well that’s up to them I don’t tell them how to run they’re lives. But if you think…” but then Ellie entered the room.

“Um excuse me Jon you want to introduce me here?” she said to him as she stood there in her robe.

Jon turned around and then walked over to her. “Babe maybe you should go back in the bedroom. I don’t want you out here she’s the one I wanted to talk to you about a little later.” He told her.

“I’m not moving Jon so introduce me.” She told him standing her ground.

Jon knew when he was licked and wasn’t going to fight in front of Karen. “Ok Karen Benson I want you to meet my fiancé Ellie Anderson Ellie Karen is here to do an article on us for Kerrang Magazine. Doc set it all up for her.” Jon told Ellie trying to get her attention.

“Oh really well Karen it’s nice to meet you. So how long are you here for?” she asked as nicely as she could as she walked up to Jon and put her arm thru his as he stood there in just his sweats.

“I’m here for about two weeks. I’m sorry but I didn’t realize you two were engaged I thought that was just a rumor that someone had started you know to get the fandom all riled up.” She told them as innocently as possible.

“And why would anyone do that Karen?” Jon jumped down her throat.

“Jon now come on we have only been engaged for what a little over two months now and we really haven’t advertise it now have we. Just mainly friends and family really know the whole story so we can’t really blame Karen is it?” Ellie asked.

“Yes it is. And thank you Ellie and congratulations on your engagement maybe I can get an interview on how he proposed?” she asked her.

“Well I don’t do interviews Karen that’s Jon’s job and when it comes to our private life we really don’t talk about it. You can understand that right?” she asked her as politely as she could.

 Karen sat there and wanted to scream because she couldn’t believe Jon was going to marry this do gooder. She actually wanted to vomit. “Well I can see your point of view but you have to see mine his fans want to know everything about him and the others. To what they eat for breakfast to what brand of toilet paper they use. To even what brand of condoms.” She said as Jon cut her off.

“Ok Karen that’s it I’ve had enough. Get Out!” he told her in a very loud voice.

“Oh please she is grown up enough to hear this isn’t she I mean she is fucking you right?” well that was the last straw for Jon and Ellie knew it. She just stood back and watched her man go into action. He grabbed her by the arm and they started heading towards the door. “Oh for crying out loud what got under your panties!” Karen shouted out.

“You did! What gives you the right to come barging in here and insulting my fiancé like that? Who the HELL do you think you are!” Jon yelled at her.

“Well I thought she’d have a sense of humor unlike you. And I really need to get going on this article but your guys left me high and dry and you’re here fucking your girlfriend. So when do you guys make time for me?” Karen asked him now getting real with him.

He thought for a moment then said to her. “Look I’ll talk to them sometime tomorrow when we see each other at sound check ok? And we’ll set up sometimes that’s the best I can do. But in the meantime when you see this sign out in front of my door do not knock leave!  Ellie is only here for a week and I intend to be locked away with her every minute that I don’t need to be on that stage got it! So leave now.” He told her as he opened the door for her.

Smiling she started to walk out and then just before she stepped all the way out she turned around and said good night and then left. Jon slammed the door and locked it. Ellie walked over to him and put her arms around him.

“Jonny are you ok?” she asked him.

Looking down at her he reciprocated as he hugged her back. “Well that’s the problem I was going to tell you about. She’s been my shadow since she arrived the other day and Richie thinks she has a thing for me.” He told her kissing her on top of her head.

“Well I hate to tell you but she does. Just the way she was looking at you and talking to me and putting me down yeah she likes you. But what women in this business doesn’t. Especially where Doc is concerned. He knows what he’s doing doesn’t he?” she said back to him as she looked back up to him.

“Wait just a minute you know that Doc sent her?” he asked her surprised.

“Of course I do wasn’t that what you were going to tell me?” she asked him.

“Well that’s what Richie and Dave thinks yeah.” He told her surprised. “Am I the only one that was completely clueless about this?” he asked her.

“Jon I hate to tell you this but you usually are. But that’s ok with other things your right on the ball. If it wasn’t for you well God only knows what Michael would have done. With you not only do I feel safe with you I feel so loved. And there is no fucking way I’m going to let a bitch like that taking you away from me.” She told him with a look of death on her face.

“Well that’s my girl.” He said as he picked her up and carried her back into the bedroom.

Karen went back to her room to try and figure out what to do next. This was not going the way she had imaged. Jon seemed to hate her so now she was going to have to change her tactics. She noticed that Richie was the closest to him so she would have to go after him. Not too bad actually he’s not bad on the eyes either and from what she was hearing and if the rumors were true she was so going to have fun with this. Maybe more fun with him than with old grumpy pants. At least he seemed to be giving her some interest anyway. Yeah that’s what she’ll do in the morning at breakfasts flirt with Richie and see where that leads. Feeling happier now she decided that she would go shopping and see what she could find for the morning.

Morning came and the guys dragged their drunken selves down to breakfast and ordered plenty of coffee. No one was really talking because it took too much effort. Karen entered the restaurant and saw them sitting there looking like four slugs so she walked over in these very tight blue jeans and tank top that she was almost falling out of.

“Hi guys well you all look like death warmed over. Have fun last night?” she said very loudly and cheery.

Looking up at her Dave just said, “Karen please you can take your cheery attitude and shove it…”

But Tico interrupted him, “Dave let’s be nice, Karen just tone it down ok?” he asked her nicely.

“Oh yeah sure so did you have fun?” she asked again.

“Yeah sure Darling had a ball. Why don’t you just sit and have some coffee and food and shhh.” Richie asked her.

Karen wanted to laugh out loud but she needed to be sympathetic to them if she wanted to get on their good sides. “Oh we don’t feel good huh? Is there anything I can do?” she asked him as nicely as she could.

Yeah aspirin, aspirin for all of us.” Richie said as he held his head.

“Well just so happens I have some on me. Would any of you care for some?” she inquired. Well all of their heads popped up and told her yes so she passed the bottle around and they all took some. As they were eating Jon and Ellie finally show their faces as they came up to the table arm in arm. So Karen thought she would start to rub Richie’s back as his eyes grew wide and sat up as the couple sat down as Jon did notice the interaction.

“So what’s going on here?” Jon asked anyone who would answer.

“We died why?” Alec responded.

“Well I can see that.” Jon said as he glanced back at Richie and Karen who now was rubbing his arm.

Richie didn’t know what the hell was going on or why Karen was giving him the attention that he thought she would give Jon. Maybe because Ellie was here? But he thought he would go with it and see what she would do.

“So Jon I see you two finally decided to join us with your presence. We thought we wouldn’t see you guys til sound check or even possibly show time.” He chuckled.

“Very funny Richie Ellie was getting hungry and I needed to see what you Bozo’s were up too.” Jon told them giving him the stink eye as Richie wasn’t sure why. Ellie noticed it too as she was fixing her tea but most importantly Karen did as she scooted closer to Richie getting the reaction from as she wanted too.

They all finished they’re breakfast and talked about the day’s events and what Jon wanted to do at sound check and just before the show so everyone was on the same page. They all agreed and started to leave one by one when all the was left were Jon and Ellie and Richie and Karen.

Looking at Karen Jon couldn’t help him and asked, “So Karen don’t you have some where to be right now?”

“No not really.” She said to him nonchalantly as Richie just shooked his shoulders and put up his hands and tighten his mouth.

Ellie just watched this interaction and how Jon’s mood changed as they had sat down. She didn’t like it one bit. He told her upstairs that he could have cared less about her. But now she was bothering the hell out of him for just sitting with them and doing nothing but by being nice. Yeah there was more to this than what he was telling her. Finally Jon decided he wanted to leave and took Ellie’s hand and they went back upstairs.

 So Richie thought he would ask Karen now what this was all about. “So Karen what the hell was all the touchy feely crap about?”

“Richie what are you talking about what touching?” she asked him all innocently

Grabbing her arm he said, “You know damn well now spill.”

“Fine you were nice to me when I first came here and I just thought since well you don’t have anybody and I don’t have anybody I just thought that we could get together for a bit but if you don’t want to I’ll understand.” She told him rubbing his arm again.

“Look I’m going to be honest with you. I thought that you were trying to get to Jon.” He stated.

“Well I was until his fiancé showed up. But he told me that straight up to get lost.  So Lover what about you? You want to party?” she asked him.
